MEP says Malta must release Lampedusa rescue timeline

‘We are talking about the deaths of more than 200 people – Our questions will not simply go away’ – Roberta Metsola

But even the Nationalist Party deputy leader for party affairs, Beppe Fenech Adami, and Alternattiva Demokratika chairperson Arnold Cassola, are now calling on the government to release the information on the rescue.

Yesterday, Nationalist MEP Roberta Metsola called on the Maltese authorities to release all the information relating to the rescue of migrants off Lampedusa on the day in question.

“It is unacceptable that more than a year after all those deaths in the Mediterranean we still do not know exactly what happened on that fateful day and our questions have not yet been fully answered. The lack of willingness to make information public has raised eyebrows among NGOs, the media and the public who have questioned how the exact sequence of events unfolded,” said Metsola, the European People’s Party vice-coordinator on the civil liberties, justice and home affairs committee that deals with migration issues.

“We are talking about the deaths of more than 200 people. Not giving all the information is simply not good enough. We deserve to know the whole truth as to exactly what happened. Our questions will not simply go away.”

Alternattiva Demokratika chairperson Arnold Cassola yesterday also called on Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to release the information on the Armed Forces of Malta’s behaviour, speaking at his party’s annual general conference; while Fenech Adami made his appeal on Friday’s edition of Xarabank.

-----------------------

The Traitorous Triumvirate.
Metsola, il Gizwitika showing clearly she is a pawn to those bent on destroying Malta.
This Jesuit trained, educated idiot is representing her People in Brussels.

Beppe, a possible future Prime Minister - horror of horrors - even worse than his father.
He should be ashamed to call himself a Nationalist.
Screaming abuse at JPO, because the latter stuck to his guns regarding Push Back.

AD Cassola - Il bassa ta soru!
Always the poodle of the PN, an extreme leftist Liberal, always on the side of the Black Invaders.
But, by next Election, General or MEP, his worn out Party will disappear - the PN will see to that!

--------------

And meanwhile in Brussels, Dr Alfred Sant M.Sc., M.B.A., D.B.A. (HARVARD), M.P.,
gave us another brilliant display of his Grand Politics:
ASBESTOS!

Malta is a 3rd World country and declining every year.
The People have no one of stature to guard their most fundamental interests, their survival, even.
The People are on their own - their choice.

Bħala parti miċ-ċelebrazzjonijiet għall-100 sena tal-grupp Alf Mizzi and Sons, The Alfred Mizzi Foundation (TAMF) ħabbret li se tkun qed tikkontribwixxi b’modd ġeneruż għal numru ta’ proġetti bi spiża totali ta’ €600,000. Fost dawn insibu studju tal-ġenetika kif ukoll ftuħ tal-ewwel soup kitchen f'Malta flimkien ma' bosta proġetti ta' restawr.

Julian Sammut, fiduċarju ta’ TAMF qal li dawn il-proġetti jaqgħu taħt l-iskopp ta’ attivitajiet tal-fondazzjoni. Fosthom biex tgħin għal-preservazzjoni tal-wirt nazzjonali, l-edukazzjoni u s-solidarjetá soċjali.

Dawn il-proġetti jinkludu l-bini mill-ġdid tat-torri tal-arloġġ fil-Birgu. Proġett ieħor li se jsir fuq firxa ta’ tliet snin se jkun studju dwar il-predispożizzjoni ġenetika għad-dijabete u l-obeżita fil-gżejjer Maltin.

Proġett ieħor se jġib miegħu l-ftuħ tal-ewwel soup kitchen f’Malta fejn persuni li qed jgħixu fil-faqar jew għandhom bżonn għajnuna fil-bżonnijiet bażiċi jista’ jmur fiċ-ċentru fejn mhux biss jingħata l-ikel iżda anke issib il-kumpanija.

TAMF ħabret li se tgħin lil Din l-Art Ħelwa fir-restawr ta’ ħames artali fil-knisja tal-Madonna tal-Vittorja ġewwa l-Belt Valletta, kif ukoll ir-restawr tal-artal u l-pittura titolari iddedikata lill-Imakulata Kunċizzjoni f’San Ġiljan.

Sammut qali li f’dawn l-aħħar 15-il sena TAMF tat il-fuq minn miljun ewro grazzi għal kontribuzzjoni ġeneruża minn Alf Mizzi and Sons.

Your politicians tell you that the country is doing well, that you should accept illegal scum from the bundu and integrate with it.
NGOs and authorities force you into it, without you realizing that this is an exacerbation of a crisis.
You gulp it down like a goldfish and proceed to wave flags, blue or red (or green for the moronic) and support the opportunistic traitors, betraying yourself and those around you.

Then comes the damp smell of newsprint and upon a first glance you notice the heading.
Your eyes, in an automated move just like an optical guide, move upwards to check the date. It reads 2015.
All of a sudden it dawns on you that the more they shout progress, the more it looks like regress, that the welfare system is crumbling.

Such reality tests kick some of you out of hibernation while others ignore it, thinking that this reality will never knock their doors.
It might not, today but it certainly will tomorrow.
Sooner or later, the maxim "I told you so" will have a deeper meaning.

Malta halts diplomatic passports agreement with Libya - Joseph Muscat
Fuel prices to go down another 3c tomorrow

Malta has temporarily halted an agreement  with Libya enabling holders of Libyan diplomatic passports to come to Malta without the need for a visa, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said this morning.

Speaking in Hamrun, Dr Muscat said this was done as a precaution because the government had information that a passport facility in Sirte had been taken over by terrorists.

“We are taking all steps we can take responsibly, keeping the Opposition informed of all developments… We have to be vigilant and careful but proceed with our own life and our future but there is no cause for alarm,” Dr Muscat said.

The Mediterranean, he said, was going through turmoil and it was crucial that, at this time, Malta remained the voice of reason and a unifying factor, saying what it believed while bringing the different factions and thoughts together.

There could not be peace in the world without peace in the Mediterranean, Dr Muscat said, saying that Libya was currently divided between the east and west with parts of it taken by terrorists.

“We have to be careful even though we have no information or suspicions of an attack… We have to be vigilant but there is no cause for alarm,” Dr Muscat said adding that terrorists would not come to Malta as irregular immigrants by boat to be locked up in a detention centre for months.

This, he said, did not mean there might not be dangers “but we are taking all necessary steps to keep country safe…. I will be the first to inform the country of any problems we may have,” he added.

http://www.maltatoday.com.mt/news/national/55776/marsa_loses_half_of_its_population_in_20_years#.VcBjnLV1xyw

Marsa loses half of its population in 20 years

Statistics issued by Local Councils Department confirm decline of inner harbour area and rise of St Paul’s Bay as Malta’s second largest town

In the past twenty years, Marsaskala has seen its population increase by 400% while Marsa has lost nearly half of its population.

This data emerges from statistics issued by the Department of Local Councils, which show changes in population between 1993 and 2014.

The statistics confirm that St Paul’s Bay has overtaken Mosta as Malta’s second most populous locality. St Paul’s Bay has just 1,201 fewer residents than Birkirkara and has 805 more residents than Mosta. In 2010, Mosta still had 593 more residents than St Paul’s Bay. The statistics show that St Paul’s Bay overtook Mosta as Malta’s second largest town in 2011.

While three new seaside localities in both the north (St Paul’s Bay and Pembroke) and south of Malta (Marsaskala) have seen an increase in population of more than 300%, all the towns in the inner harbour area have seen a sharp decline in their population, losing between a third and nearly a half of their populations since 1993.

The sharpest decline was registered by the heavily polluted town of Marsa, which has seen its population decrease by 45% between 1993 and 2014.

Marsa’s population has declined from 8,036 in 1993 to 5,731 in 2000. Marsa’s population rose again to 6,018 in 2010 but dropped again to 4,401 in 2014.

Bormla and Isla lost a third of their population in the same period while Birgu lost a quarter.

Marsaskala has seen its population increase dramatically, by 400%, between 1993 and 2014 in a period when the Maltese population increased by 75%. The population rose from 2,430 in 1993 to 7,404 by 2000, to 11,443 in 2010 and to 12,134 in 2014.

Pembroke, a smaller locality, has also seen a remarkable increase in its population from just 795 in 1993 to 2,850 now. But unlike Marsaskala, the increase in population was not continuous. A sharp 1,110 increase was registered between 1993 and 1994.

Sliema, whose population remained stagnant in the 1990s and early noughties, oscillating between 13,000 and 15,000, saw a sharp increase after 2004, reaching the 19,224 mark in 2012, thus edging closer to St Paul’s Bay and Mosta.  This coincided with a development spree in the locality in the mid-noughties.   Surprisingly, the population declined again to 16,584 by 2014.

The capital city Valletta has lost 2,709 of its inhabitants in a consistent decline over the past 20 years.

Interestingly, while Lija and Attard have grown by 70%, Balzan, which has an older population, has lost a fifth of its population.

A general shift from South to North.

But there is nowhere to go on this darkening Devil Island

PN stops short of calling for PBS head of news resignation, says Bugeja knows what he has to do

Nationalist Party has stopped short of calling for the resignation of PBS head of news Reno Bugeja, despite the Party's constant complaints about the lack of impartiality at the national broadcaster.

Asked by The Malta Independent why the PN has stopped short of calling for Mr Bugeja's resignation, PN MP Clyde Puli said Mr Bugeja is an intelligent person and knows what he has to do....

'I am not in favour of multi-culturalism' - Labour MP

Labour MP Etienne Grech has declared he is not in favour of multi-culturalism and migrants who have grounds to stay in Malta should integrate with the local culture.

He made his comment in a Facebook post above a newspaper report quoting Justice Minister Owen Bonnici saying that no one has a carte blanche to insult other religions, and 'we are in favour of multi-culturalism'.

In his comment, Dr Grech said: I am not in favour of multi-culturalism...what I am in favour of is that migrants who qualify to stay in our country should be taught Maltese or European culture and that they integrate in it, as always happened in the past.

"If not first-generation migrants, at least their children should integrate in our culture."

--------------

At last, one decent MP who speaks truthfully and in defence of his People.
One Man in a pigsty full of Traitors, betraying their Country.
One augurs that Etienne Grech will stand his ground - he has nothing to apologize for.

He must not do a Joey ta Burmarrad - "Pushback was a mistake".
He must never join those three stooges: Gonzi, Jason Azzopardi and Evarist Bartolo:
"Multiculturalism is a strength" and "Malta is not Multicultural enough".

And who would have thought that a promising, young MP Owen Bonnici, would turn out like this?
A young man who could have aspired to the highest office?
He has shown that, after all, he is just one of the rest.
