From CREDO: A Book for the Very Few

"A new Periclean age will dawn.   We must make it dawn! A new age of internal harmony, of learning and culture.    Of respect, by youngsters thirsting for knowledge for their elders.   No longer will we need to import the slave labour of Asia and Africa as did Athens of old to her final destruction.   Our machines and technology will be our new slaves.    And every four years we will meet.   Just our family of nations at Olympia for our games as we did 2000 years ago.   We will compete amongst ourselves.   The best of us in true sporting agonism which is the creation of the European.   Naked, ashamed of all our clothes, we will strive, in purity of mind and body.    Europe, this lovely bit of earth, belongs to us.

Social exclusion from top

Back in the 1990s, when sociologist Anthony Middens proposed the influential ‘third way’ social-democratic approach, he warned about different types of social exclusion.
As he put it, social exclusion may take place due to policies which exclude persons from everyday social interaction because of their identity or social background. But he added that persons may also decide themselves to be excluded from mainstream society.

And these do not simply include those who, for some reason or another, voluntarily decide not to participate in the world of employment in order to become welfare dependent.
Voluntary exclusion may also take place by elites who exclude themselves from social communities within their own privatised high-class ghettos.

Middens suggested that social policy should prioritise social inclusion by acting as a trampoline, empowering people to be skilled for the opportunities and the risks of our times. His proposed social investment state would incorporate rights with responsibilities, public-private collaboration, voluntary associations and the strengthening of communities

As the narrative goes, persons having different identities are seen as meriting social inclusion whether in terms of civil rights or education and employment opportunities.

Which is why I was surprised, not to say shocked, when I read the latest proposal of Joseph Muscat’s government: the one referring to homeschooling.

This proposal forms part of other proposed amendments to the Education Act, proposed by the Ministry of Education, one of the government’s best performers.
In a nutshell, the homeschooling section allows parents to apply to the Commission for General Education to provide homeschooling for their children. If the application is approved by the commission, schooling would be carried out by ‘suitably qualified home educators’.

This proposal says that three categories of persons may apply for this facility: students in poor health, students whose parents are temporarily in Malta, and students whose family have diverse philosophies from those taught in schools.

Homeschooling for students in poor health could be of great benefit to such persons. But that is as far as my agreement with the government’s proposal goes.

Schools have a vital social function for the social integration of persons with different backgrounds
My position is based on the premise that schools do not only exist for the transmission of skills which are valuable for future employment, important as these are. Schools also have a vital social function for the social integration of persons with different backgrounds.

Granted, if integration is taken too far, it could result in authoritarian conformism that mortifies individuality and creativity. But education needn’t be like this, and in actual fact, Malta’s education system has actually been moving away from this direction.

When students integrate with other students and educators, they learn essential social skills. Such skills are not only learned in formal lessons, but also during breaks, games, outings, sports, and other activities. Students learn to live in society, as the school itself is a society in miniature.
In short, schooling is an investment in social capital, networks and community.
Government’s homeschooling proposal seems to offer the very opposite of this. Two groups came to mind as soon as I read the text.

First, ultra-rich business persons who do not want to mix with ‘common people’. Maybe this includes faceless purchasers of citizenship for cash. Or the ‘high worth’ individuals which Muscat’s government wants to attract to Malta through the exclusive projects by the rich for the rich. Maybe this complements the government’s fetish for high-rise development and similar investments.

Second, persons whose values and ideologies are totally out of synch with the spectrum of ideas found in everyday life. Rather than representing a multiculturalism of integration and mutual respect, Malta would risk encouraging multiculturalism of parallel isolationist ghettos that do not communicate with each other. Would this be beneficial to a democratic society? I think not.

Maybe Muscat’s adherence to the narrative of social inclusion exists only when it does not interfere with certain interests. And if he promised homeschooling to lobbyists before the 2013 general election, then the proposed education act is delivering the goods.

Michael Briguglio is a sociologist.

Here he is, the ex-chairman of The Greens:
fuming over home-schooling since it does not encourage Multiculturalism.
The Greens, always the mouthpiece of The Rodents in Human Form.

And what about Individual Rights? - Sur braggiolu.
What about Freedom of Choice - Freedom of Association?
These Greens are, in essence: Stalinist.

We trust the Minister will carry on this project -
and include those parents who steadfastly refuse to send their children to the Multiracial mess
- and we have them in Malta - with all the symptons: disease, bullying, language problems, loss of time for Maltese children, as they wait for the teacher to explain to the primitives.

The Greens: the worst of the whole, rotten lot!

German Politician Blocked Posting of Terrorist Pictures to Stop Racial Hatred on Facebook

Andrew Anglin
Daily Stormer
December 24, 2016

Daily Mail:

A German politician is facing calls to resign over allegations that he prevented police from sharing pictures of the Berlin truck terrorist when he was at large.

Reports in Germany claim that Till Steffen prevented law enforcers in Hamburg from releasing pictures of Anis Amri, despite him being the most wanted man in the world after Monday’s terror attack.

Amri, 24, was named as a suspect on Wednesday after his wallet was found in the lorry which ploughed into a crowd of people at a Berlin Christmas market, killing 12 people.

It has been alleged that Steffen, who is head of the judicial authority in Hamburg, prevented the pictures being circulated because he feared sharing images of Islamist terror suspects will incite racial hatred.

Newspaper Bild reported that police were able to give a description of the killer, but not show the public what he looked like because of privacy concerns.

Insiders claim he was worried the pictures of terror suspects incite racial hatred.

Joachim Lenders, chairman of Hamburg’s regional police force, is quoted by Bild stating: ‘It is incomprehensible that investigating authorities are thrown such truncheons.’

The Green politician, who is head of the judicial authority in Hamburg, only granted an exception after a call from the newspaper, following a 12 hour delay, it reports.

Website shz.de reports that authorities are concerned that abusive comments can be posted on Facebook appeals, because comments cannot be disabled.

It quotes Hamburg CDU politician Richard Seelmaecker, who said: ‘Anis Amri has allegedly murdered twelve people, but instead of using all means to search for him, Hamburg’s green lawmaker is more concerned about comments on Facebook.’

There you have it.

A terrorist was on the loose, they were saying he was likely to kill again, and the number one priority was to stop people from questioning terrorism on the internet.

AD invites Muscat and Busuttil to show their disapproval of Trump measures

Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson Prof. Arnold Cassola has written the letter hereunder, to the US Ambassador in Malta, showing its disapproval at measures taken by new US President Donald Trump.

Alternattiva Demokratika also invited Prime Minister Muscat and Opposition Leader Simon Busuttil to express their disappointment at the measures being taken by taken by President Trump.

Prof. Cassola said: "The isolationist, protectionist and confrontational policies being adopted by President Trump not only go against the concept of basic human dignity but even pose a threat to peace and security nearer home, with the risk of increasing migration flows in the Mediterranean as well as encouraging reactions of brutal terrorist organisations operating in the region. Maltese political leaders should sound their worries in unison against some of the senseless decisions being taken by President Trump".

***

To H. E. G. Kathleen Hill
US Ambassador to Malta

Dear Ambassador,

I would like you to convey to the US government AD's great concern at a number of measures taken by Mr Donald Trump in his first week of Presidency.  These measures spread hatred, foster division and endanger the concept of peace amongst peoples. We will continue to support all peace loving Americans in their fight against these first
senseless decisions taken by President Trump.

Yours Sincerely,

Arnold Cassola
Chairperson
Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party

-----

Joseph Lawrence • 3 hours ago

Mr Cassola wake up and smell the coffee. PRESIDENT Donald Trump ran on the ticked of making AMERICA GREAT, AND AMERICAN CITIZENS COME FIRST AND FOREMOST. Why don't you ecourage your Maltese counterparts to do the same? Protect and defend Maltese Citizens and stop treating Maltese citizens like second class people and stop putting the illegal immigrants ahead of Maltese Citizens starting with forcing integration on us all. Donald Trump said that he will make America great again. Let the Americans decide what is happening in their country and as we preach ourselves, stop interfeering in other countries politics and other countries policies

The Greens: What a sorry lot.
Timorous even of pronouncing themselves on matters of Abortion and Euthanasia.
Destined to the scrap heap of Malta's Political History.
