2 years is a little overdone within the context of retributive justice.

Within the context of rehabilitative justice it is inappropriate.

The function of a cage within this context is to protect society from the individual concerned. Kissing would be a relatively pathetic thing to protect society from, although it is to be recognized that involuntary kissing is undesireable.

Still... 2 years in prison? Please...

3 months sounds more like it, plus compensation, say, Lm 1,000, to the girl in question plus a prohibition order against being alone with children for 1 year.

In this way the individual would be sure not to use his lips quite so lightly... whereas the retributive imprisonment route will possibly have a more dangerous person emerge.

think of  this 13 year old as your daughter, or your sister.  think of her trauma.
then come here and talk about "overdone retributive justice".
not all 13 year olds are already having sex, and even if they were, they're entitled to choose whether they share a hug/kiss with a friend their own age rather than have some old geezer shove his tongue down her throat or flash his penis at her.

then again, like i said before.  the prosecution did ask for immediate expulsion of this pervert so perhaps it would have been better to get rid of him.  let him go flash his pecker at libyan kids.  the koran says it ok for 13 years olds to hang around 60 year olds. mohammed himself wed a young girl when he was old enough to be her grandfather.
integration? ye right.

Its Qu'ran not Koran.
Maybe Mohammed was ugly and a 13 year old girl was all he could have, i mean mhux drawings about him are forbidden ? Its obvious he was as ugly as sin.
Thing is you cant go blaming every libyan for what 1 libyan did..:)

If i was a Prison guard, I'd stick him in with the biggest whitest pervert i could find in prison.

I'd give him a drape to cover the cell, to spare the embarressment of being seen dogged by "Ninu Dudu Twilus".

Maybe that will get him to Pull out his dick infront of his own goddamn people.

Thing is, you cannot choose as you do, to denigrate foreigners when it suits you.You are not consistent in your views and opinions Joga.

Depends on my mood. Sepp.
But Right Now I'm trying to be more open-minded about stuff.
Blaming a whole people for one person is wrong.

As in Aryan Brotherhood maybe?
Maybe, they would have done buisness with him, I'm guessing most are in there for worse or similar charges.

So!Do you agree or disagree with the sentence meted out to the Libyan fellow?

I believe he should be made an example of and unfortunately 2 years is not an example.
A good Sentance would have IMO been:
5-10 years Jail, deportation and banned from Malta for life.

Also as part of his sentance the guards need to put him in a cell with a Great white Puf,
since his charge was sexual and on a white Person,
its a taste of his own medicine and totally fair.

AD asks for more street patrols by police

Following the spate of hold- ups in the streets of Swieqi, Bugibba and Msida, Alternattiva Demokratika called for more police patrols in streets.

Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika chairperson, stated: ?While we augur that the police solve these cases of robbery as quickly as possible, we believe that prevention is the best cure in this case.

?We therefore ask for more policemen patrolling our streets.

?If need be, civil servants should replace policemen in clerical work, so that the latter would be freed to patrol our streets, thus giving a greater sense of comfort and safety to our citizens.?

malta is not a police state.

10- 15 years ago i distinctly remember seeing police officers sat down with their legs on the desk reading newspapers. that is how they should be!

deport the criminals and they can get back to reading newspapers.
